This study examined the relationship between agricultural technology and food security in Nigeria using an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The study obtained annual time-series data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), World Development Indicators (WDI), National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the period of 35 years that is from 1990-2025. The ARDL econometric technique was employed in this study and the results showed that agricultural technology has a positive and statistically significant effect on food security in both the short run and long run. The error correction term was negative and significant, which confirms adjustment toward long-run equilibrium. The study further established that capital formation and trade openness positively influence food security, while labour contributes relatively less in the modern agricultural structure. The study concludes that agricultural technology is a key determinant of food security in Nigeria, and its effectiveness is enhanced by complementary investments in capital and supportive trade policies. Based on the findings, therefore, the study recommends increased investment in agricultural innovation, strengthened extension services, improved access to finance, and enhanced digital agricultural systems to improve food security outcomes in Nigeria.
